Hi, my name is Rebecca..
and I’m a word-loving introvert. As a child I was obsessed with reading and writing. In middle school I learned about “proofreading” and making corrections with a red pen. I was hooked. Advanced English classes in high school taught me more about grammar than I thought possible.
In college I majored in history and received minors in creative writing and anthropology. After the first legible draft of a paper or story was written, I would tear my own writing apart again and again until everything fell into place. In creative writing courses, I delighted in workshop days and covered my unsuspecting classmates’ writing in blue ink.
After graduating I pursued a master’s degree in European and Mediterranean Studies at New York University, where the paper butchering continued. I now work as a marketing and managing director for a university theatre.
I have missed writing and editing, especially while being surrounded by academia. Several close friends have started their own businesses, and to help bolster their professionalism, I proofread their social media posts. The idea of proofreading for others as a business hit me soon after.
My other interests include animal welfare, and I volunteer for a local humane society and foster orphan kittens and senior hospice cats. I enjoy riding and caring for my two horses, Moon and Dee.
Over the course of COVID-19 quarantine I also took up growing flowers and now run a small, local cut flower business.
And that’s me in a nutshell! I’m always happy to answer questions about my services and experience as a proofreader.
I look forward to working with you soon!
